This workshop provides foundational knowledge in changes to communication and the principles for communicating more effectively with someone with dementia. To introduce the concept of Person-Centred Care into organisational practice within the disability environment or services provided to people with a disability.

ATTENDEES WILL:

  • Understand how dementia affects communication
  • Identify how these changes present and how they could be managed
  • Explain the principles of person-centred care and how these translate to more effective dementia practice

DURATION: 2 hours

PARTICIPANTS: This course is suitable for Disability sector and disability care staff, Aged care residential care staff, Acute care staff, Clinical nurse consultants, Registered nurses, Enrolled nurses, Care workers, Ancillary staff, Occupation therapists, Physiotherapists.
