Vision and strategy - SA

"A society committed to reducing the impact of dementia" is the vision that Alzheimer’s Australia SA Inc. (AASA) has adopted for the period 2015-2017.

Strategy 2017

Vision

A society committed to reducing the impact of dementia

Values

Professionalism, Integrity, Commitment, Teamwork, Inclusion

Strategy 2017 will respond to the growing demands placed on Alzheimer’s Australia SA Inc. (AASA) over the next several years.

Currently, dementia is the second leading cause of death in Australia. “The power is now for AASA to move on dementia”, with the Strategy 2017 identifying three key priority areas to assist the organisation in providing accessibility and quality of services to meet the needs of people living with dementia in metropolitan and regional South Australia. These areas include:

Key Priority Areas

  1. Service Innovation and Delivery
  2. Consumer Engagement / Policy and Advocacy
  3. Organisational Sustainability

We take the view that consumer empowerment and advocacy are centre stage in what we do as an organisation and policy and advocacy will always remain a strong focus across all key priorities.

The stigma and social isolation that result from a diagnosis of dementia will not be changed unless the wider community comes to better understand the journey of dementia.

The statement ‘Life, Hope, Future’ comes from the hearts of the people at AASA as they continually strive to make a difference in people’s lives each day.

The culture of the organisation is one that embraces change, has passion and delivers quality services to people with dementia, their carers and families.

The strategic planning process included immense input from the staff at AASA; everyone has had the opportunity to have a say in the future direction of the organisation and will work in collaboration to ensure we reach all key performance areas.

We look forward to the continuing successes of Alzheimer’s Australia SA over the next several years.

Key Objectives

  1. To increase consumers of AASA services to meet the needs of people living with dementia
  2. To lead the fight against dementia in South Australia
  3. To increase the Organisation’s financial diversification, HR and infrastructure through growth efficiencies and best practise
